Hi, i hope i can get some help there :) this problem is driving me up the wall.

Well. here it goes. i own a HP DV1123AP or a DV1000 the laptop recently had a failed LCD inverter which has since been fixed now im faced with a new problem. The laptop currently boots up fine and i can use it whilst the power adapter isnt plugged in. when i go and plug the power adapter in the screen goes very dim it seems the CCFL just turns off or the inverter isnt receiving any voltage. BTW im using a aftermarket power adapter that is running at 19V instead of the recomended 18.5V (the laptop still charges up fine)

I have plugged in the power adapter when it isnt connected to the power outlet and it doesnt turn off the LCD screen it only turns it off when its connected to the power.

PLEASE HELP! any input is appreciated :)

Did the power management settings get screwed up somehow? Perhaps the new inverter is sensitive to that aftermarket adapter, maybe not providing the right amperage? That's all I can think of at the moment.

Have you tried e-mailing HP support? If they fixed the inverter they should warrant the repair for at least 90 days to my knowledge.

the inverter that i got is different to my original one, but i installed it myself so i dont have any warranty on it. i might try and email HP support to see what kinda feed back they can give me.

ive checked through the power management settings and cant find any settings that are applicable or that may effect it. when i start the computer with the power adapter connected i see the HP logo flash up then from there on the LCD goes dim.

hey im having the same sort of problem except i cant even remove the left clip from the inverter....anyways mine failed because like you my power adapter got messed up, i didnt want to pay 50-80 bucks for a new power jack so i went looking for a new tip (the part you actually plug into the computer). I needed a "C" size tip to attatch to the cord, but i couldnt find one anywhere so i ended up just trying the "B" size. I cut off the old tip, sodered this one to it and boom it worked, it charged and i was pumped. then after a 'few sessions' on the computer i could feel that the tip was really hot but i didnt care my comp was still working. then after about 20 hours of use the LCD inverter failed and i am replacing that AND I will be purchasing an original HP power jack.

My point is this, after you replace the inverter, just buy an original HP specific power jack, it sucks to have to pay for one but there are some cheaper ones out there if you look on EBay there are some whole sale sellers there

You should borrow a 18.5V adapter and try and see what happens.
