Hi everyone, im new here and I would like to say that this site rocks.
I finished downgrading my HP Pavilion 6725us but I have a lil problem.
When I connect the headphones to the notebook input, the speaker doesnt shut down. And I hear from both the same sounds.

I have a Conexant audio hardware, and I followed the steps of this topic:

    Thank you very much

Try to find the sound control panel (go to Windows control panel (classic view) and try to find the configuration utility for the sound card (not audio devices! something brand specific)). There may be an option there to disable speakers when headphones are plugged in

I have no other options in control panel.. There is not a utility from Conexant to change the settings.

And if I go to audio devices, theres something wrong here because if I turn in the speakers configuration to the one that says "No speakers" and I apply, the music sounds anyway.

(Sorry for my english, trying to do my best)

Another thing.. When I installed the conexant audio driver, in the .inf file I had to add my hardware name:

    %HdAudioFunctionDriver.Waikiki5047.DeviceDesc% = HdAudModel,HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30CF

, otherwise the installation wouldnt recognize it.

More than likely, your problem is with the physical contacts inside the headphone jack. The is a switch that is supposed to tell the computer that you've inserted the headphones and its supposed to shutdown the speakers. Try cleaning the headphone jack with air, or just jam a headphone jack into the outlet a bunch of times. If that doesn't do it and you are feeling ambitious, you can open up the laptop and give all the connections a good cleaning. But its probably not a problem with the drivers or soundcard-- if it was, the audio wouldn't work at all or you would have identical problems with both built-in speakers and the headphones. i had the same problem with my HP dv6000. I jammed a headphone jack in and out for about 30 seconds and the speakers kicked on and i've never had a problem since.
    hope that helps.
