I have the F572US. I recently upgraded the HD to WD 160 GB using Acronis. Everything was fine for about a week or so then I realized I was getting slow to NO throughput through my WIFI connection. My older lap top had no problem connecting wireless at all. Also, when I tried to connect to my network (F572) there was a message "identifying network". Reinstalled new drivers with HP's support and re-seated the wireless card...it worked (sporadically) and then they sent me a new card. I installed it and it worked fine....for about 1/2 hour. Now it won't connect to the network. Fails ping tests from the router....however, it works for a few web pages then stalls and has a red "X" through network connection or two boxes with no "internet globe". The F572US will connect flawlessly when hard wired or using my USB Netgear stick. I tried putting the original HD back in (that came with the computer), and no luck. Re-seated the 802.11 card. Left the computer unplugged or powerless for 20 minutes, etc. I have spent countless hours on this and I am losing patience.I am using Vista Premium. The computer is 4-months old.
I am very care about static when replacing hard ware....rubber mat on hardwood floor. Could it be a bad controller in the MB? PLEASE HELP!!!

Get the information off of the wireless card they sent you, go to the manufacturer's website (not HP's, as their drivers are always out of date), download the newest drivers, uninstall the current drivers for your wireless card, and install the newest drivers you just downloaded. Also, it could be your motherboard that went bad. I had a similar problem with my laptop and even after I replaced the wireless card it still gave me the same problems. After I sent it back to HP they ended up replacing the motherboard and CPU. So if uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling with the updated ones from the manufacturers website doesn't work you will have to send it in to them.

Hi Mikelets456,
Wireless problems can be difficult to diagnosis.
Try these tips:
1) Ensure the wireless card is on. Click on the Start button and type " hp wireless assistant". If the status is off, locate the wireless switch and turn it on. If the switch is on, but the status is still off then contact HP for further assistance.
2) Update the firmware of you router. Double-check the settings for your wireless network (SSID, WEP, WPA or none and the wireless channel used for your network. (I suggest 1, 6 or 11))
3) Click on the Start button and type " network and sharing ceter". Click on Manage wireless networks - Find the name of your wireless network and REMOVE IT. Click on the ADD button and recreate the wireless account. If your wireless network is not shown it possible that the SSID is not broadcasting. In that case, click on Manually create a network profile and enter the necessary information for your network.
4) Some user experience problems when the TCP/IPv6 protocol is enabled. Try disabling it. Click on the Start button, type " Network and sharing center", select Manage network connections. Open the properties of the connection. Uncheck the TCP/IPv6.
5) Modify the default power saving power plan
Modify the default on-battery power setting for the wireless network adapter. Configure the wireless network adapter to use the Maximum Performance setting when Windows Vista is configured to use the Balanced power plan or the Power saver power plan. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start button, type Power Options in the Start Search box, and then click Power Options in the Programs list.
User Account Control permission If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
2. Click Change plan settings under the power plan that is selected. For example, if the Balanced option is selected, click Change plan settings under Balanced.
3. Click Change advanced power settings.
4. In the Power Options dialog box, expand Wireless Adapter Settings, and then expand Power Saving Mode.
5. In the list that appears next to On battery, click Maximum Performance, and then click OK.
I hope one of these tips help you.

Thanks for your help, but it's a "no go". We tried everything... I really think it's a motherboard controller problem. It's sporadic and inconsistent. Whereas my older laptop connects at full speed time after time. Sent this back...thanks again.

Well, got the F572 back. They replaced the motherboard (supposedly) and I have the SAME exact problem. It's going back again.
One question....I cloned my hard drive and used Acronis and it seems that the HD boots off of Acronis, could this be interfering with loading something with the Wifi or LAN? Is there a way to NOT have Acronis boot the HD? Would it even matter?
Any help because I am really am getting ticked with HP's CS reps that keep asking the same diagnostic questions even after I was on the phone for 4 hours one night that determined this problem that is EXACTLY the same!!!
Help please!!!! -
I'm doing tech support for a friend and have encountered exactly the same problem with the Compaq Presario F572US wireless adapter.
As far as I can tell, the adapter is dead. Windows can't see it, changes to the drivers and operating system have no effect, and safe mode and system restore do nothing to resolve the issue.
Evidence suggests that this problem is probably relatively widespread, and the result of a bad batch of motherboard controllers or some other integrated component. I find it especially strange that this problem has happened to multiple people at the exact same time:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/net...rk-adapter-problems-compaq-presario-f572.html
All of the standard methods of addressing wireless problems don't seem to be working, and Compaq hasn't been any help.
Any thoughts on my ideas?

This is defenitly a motherboard problem. Working for a rent-to-own company 30% of the F572US models have already been returned with no wifi at all. The broadcom card doesn't show up in device manager even though the card itself is fine. There is no other solution then sending them back to HP.
This is a widespread problem with other models as well. We have this problem with the V6210US, V6310US, V6105US and V6107US. I know of the same problems with the 9000-series and the 2000-series as well.
But only with AMD motherboards!

For 6000 and 900-series HP extended the warranty with a year:
