I'm having a problem with installing HP QuickPlay on my HP Pavillion DV9500t with Windows Vista Ultima after a did clean vista install.

So far I have succeeded in installing HP DVD Play, but haven't been able to install HP QuickPlay, which is what I'm interested in.

So how do I install HP QuickPlay with full functionality?

    Thanks :)

All you have to do is run the setup.exe file in C:/SWsetup/QPL folder

Some people have had this problem (including me) where only HP DVD play would install and not Quickplay. If what 'flipfire' suggested doesn't work for you follow the instructions in my attached PDF then try to re-install Quickplay either from the SWSetup folder or from the HP download file for your laptop.

As always, be careful working in your registry.

Double check and make sure that you followed the procedure I outlined, exactly. Refer to the snapshot and make sure that yours looks exacty the same.

After you double check your registry entry work, and if it still doesn't work from the SWSETUP folder, try downloading the QuickPlay software for your notebook from HP's site and see if that copy will install properly.

Hmmm. Although I don't think you have to, did you reboot your computer after you edited the registry? If not please do so.

Sorry it doesn't work for you, it has worked for several people as well as myself. If you are sure that you followed the procedure and didn't enter any quotes "" around the entries, created the QPFlag entry in the correct directory (see bottom of my snapshot) I don't know what to tell you. HP's solution to this problem is to do a 'factory reinstall' of your original software from the backup partition or the backup software DVD's you should have made. I don't think you are going to find a corrective answer (other than reinstall the laptops original factory software) from anyone regarding this particular issue.
