So since many here in have either a dv2000 series notebook and I'm wondering if you could answer this question/concern I have.
I think I might have a problem with my new notebook that I purchased on Saturday at Best Buy [Canada] and returned it because of a dead pixel. Sunday I picked up a new one (specs in my signature) and it seemed fine at first but now I'm not sure what to think.
On the front of the notebook on the left hand side there are three blue LED indicator lights: Power, battery and hard drive. When my notebook is connected to A/C (the battery pack is also in), the power light is on and the harddrive light flickers when there is activity which seems normal enough. Nothing happens to the battery indicator light. However, shouldn't the battery indicator light also be on as well when I'm connected to A/C? Because all I have is a dim blue light that doesn't do anything. Furthermore, when I disconnect the notebook from A/C, there is no blue light either.
I'm not sure what is considered 'normal' indicator lights or what they should look like. Or am I being paranoid? Also, my battery seems fine and says it's charged at 100%.

The battery charge light only lights up when the battery is actually charging. Therefore, if you're plugged in, but the battery is fully charged, it will not illuminate. It's a bit confusing; I know it threw me off the first time I used my nw8440.
Based on what the charge light does on my nw8440, an amber charge light = Battery fast charging; charge is below 90%. Green (Blue in your case) charge light = Battery trickle charging; battery is above 90% charged. No light = not charging (either fully charged or running on battery). -
Thanks! That explains a lot. Wow I thought I got a defective product but now it makes sense. The battery light did come one last night when I was recharging the battery.
The new HP notebook works a bit differently from my old ze5300 series notebook...just trying to work out the kinks.
