Okay, so here's what's been happening. It all started a few months back when my sound starting messing up. Every sound the computer makes is skipping like crazy. I can't watch a video with sound or listen to my music without the noise skipping every 2-5 seconds. Basically when it screwed up, having my notebook was pointless. Even the windows startup noise skips! And I just checked it a few minutes ago and it's taking about 10 full minutes to turn on and get to my desktop, and my screensaver skips too.

I've sent my laptop in before for other reasons, but it took so long and was such an inconvenience that I never wanted to have to do it again. So I had a friend reformat my hard drive. Success, it worked! I slowly put everything I wanted back onto my notebook. A couple of weeks later, it happened again. So we reformatted it one more time, and again slowly but surely I put all of my software, games, music and everything else back onto it. Well tonight, when I was using my pin drive to transfer music from my parents desktop to my laptop itunes library, it started again.

It's beginning to really frustrate me, I've spent so much time taking all the music off of my ipod and arranging it the way I like onto my notebook. Plus all of my photography and projects. Plus, I have so many programs that I use on there like photoshop, office 2007, nero 7, utorrent, professional regristry doctor and a few others.

Any idea what the hell could be wrong with it? I really don't feel like doing this all over just to have it happen within a month. I just hope it has nothing to do with itunes.

I tried posting this at notebookforums.com but I only recieved one reply.

EDIT: Now my computer is running slowly entirely. Mouse movements are very choppy, clicking on any desktop icon is a big mistake just because it takes a full minute for a simple folder to open. I can't figure this one out.

Have you tried running all the various anti-virus and anti-spyware tools? What might be happening is that you go to a site that you think is safe, but actually one which installs this stuff. Or you could be getting it through other methods like P2P networks. I don't think it's a hardware issue because if it was, reformatting your hard drive shouldn't fix the problem. Hence, I think something is crippling your system software wise. Another option, if your laptop is still under warranty, is to ask for a replacement model and claim you got a lemon. To get more help, it might be useful to change the title of your thread with something more specific like "DV5215US sound skipping."

I ran all of my anti-virus software, and it didn't pick up on anything.

"Claim you got a lemon" I have no clue what that means. What is that?

    gizmo18,

I usually run SpyBot, Ad-Aware AND an AntiVirus program 24/7 and update/scan each week to make sure my system is clean. I would check a reputable spyware & adware program to see if they find anything, then follow those up with your virus scan.

I've had to fix too many PC's with your same symptoms, believe me.

    Post back with your follow-up.

    Cheers!
