I noticed that my lappy is giving some wheezing sound (high pitch)...not sure it's the speakers or wat...

    Anyone had this problem solved...

    Mag,

The problem may be a similar problem on my HP nx8220. It seems to be related to a capacitor on the mainboard (bottom left corner of KB on my unit). From what I've heard in the past, a capacitor is vibrating due to the power flowing through it. The only real way to eliminate the noise is to reduce power flowing through the cap or smother the cap with some epoxy to stop it from vibrating (that's the workaround an HP engineer told me a couple years back for my nx7000 I had).

There are a few things you can try to see if they help:

    1. Insert a USB pen drive into the USB port (near where the sound is coming from). On my unit, and others with a similar problem, it stopped the noise until you pulled out the USB drive.

    2. Goto Device Manager and under USB, modify the USB Root Hubs power management settings. Uncheck the "turn off this device to save power" option and see if it helps. You need to do one at a time to find the one that is causing the problem.

    3. Change your power Management settings from Always On to Laptop/Notebook. This was for the older nx7000 series. The newer Pentium M units are only affected when running on battery, while the nx7000 was on battery and AC.

    4. For the nx8220 that I currently have, the problem seems to be linked with the Bluetooth module. When the module is enabled, the sound disappears. Try enabling your module (if you have one) and see what happens.

Regarding the forums, I don't think there's a lot of forums dedicated to the Business series of notebooks. These notebooks are rare (but becoming more popular) as most users tend to go for the lastest and greatest consumer notebooks as they're generally cheaper in price and have more features.
