    Hi

My GFs old HP Pavillion DV6000 cpu fan is sounding like an old airplane. Can you change the cpu fan to a quiet one and in that case where can I buy one?

Or is there any other thing I can do with it?

I tried to open it and clean the fan and change the thermal paste, but I only managed to open up the front and blowing the fan clear. Didn't manage to change the thermal paste or clean it properly. :(

Here's a copy of the service manual. You can use this to properly disassemble the notebook. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf

Also, the part number for the assembly can be found in it. You can use that number to search on ebay or the HP parts store for a new fan assembly.
