I have a dv6500t and I reformatted the OS. Out of the box the controls work, and everything in the remote works except for the windows media center button.
I installed the HP QuickLaunch buttons out of the SWsetup folder I saved from the original install.
That worked great because:
1.) When I raised or lowered the volume controls I could hear the little clicks getting louder or softer
2.) the green windows media center button on my card slot remote worked
Well after about a day it stopped working and went back to before. I have tried uninstalling quick launch buttons, reinstalling, uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest software off HP's site, nothing. Does anyone know how I can get the clicks back and the windows media center button to work on my remote? Thanks.

Does anyone know how I can get this working? Because it isn't so much the tapping noises the buttons make, what I really want is to be able to launch windows media center when I hit the button on my remote. It just seems that they are both the same problem. It is as if the quicklaunch buttons software is not working because I do not notice a difference with it installed or not installed.
It kinda defeats the purpose of having the remote if I have to walk all the way up to the laptop and manually start windows media center.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks a bunch! -

Maybe replace the battery in the remote?

Try also installing quickplay. I remember having a similar problem, and it didn't fully work until both the quick launch button drivers and the quickplay software were installed.

Thanks guys, I have both quickplay and quicklaunch buttons installed. I also updated them both with no luck either.
It isn't the battery in my remote because all the other buttons work fine, except for the media center button. And that is also linked to me not hearing any audible clicks when I scroll the volume up or down on the quicklaunch buttons. -
Hi guys... I'm on the same boat.
Just bought a HDX Dragon, which has those sensitive quicklaunch buttons that get pressed accidentally from time to time, turning off the wireless lan and bluetooth mouse connection. Until this, that's fine... but what is really driving me crazy is that the buttons are not working anymore, they have suddenly stopped. I don't know if it was after some Vista Update or when I optimized my msconfig autostart.
Anyway, I've tried everything possible: turned on ALL factory items at msconfig/autostart again (didn't work), uninstalled and installed Quickplay, quicklaunch & quick everything from the swsetup folder (didn't work), manually deleted the drivers at the device manager (didn't work), deleted the drivers and uninstalled all related softwares and forced the hardware driver installation again (didn't either), so I don't know what to do... Making a system is restore is really OUT of question, as I spent days configuring the whole machine, installing my softwares, etc.
Does anyone had success dealing with this problem? The buttons are there, fully lighted, but nothing happens when I touch them.
By the way, if anyone is expecting to use the tv tunner with Windows Media Center on a HDX, forget about it. -
I have been looking for answers to these questions too. I have a dv2500t and the audible clicks and the green button in the remote just quit working. There is no logic to it, they literally quit on their own. This is the second time that they have just quit working on their own. Very strange. I'll have to try to remember what I did last time.

You need to install the Realtek HD Audio drivers to fix the audible clicks.

I noticed a new update for QuickLaunch on Windows Update within the past several days.
-
By installing quick launch buttons and quickplay, and then reinstalling quicklaunch first and then quickplay, everything but the clicks are working again. Maybe I need to try doing the same with the realtek driver to get the clicks back, but to be honest, I don't care too much about them. I used the intellitype driver to add an on screen display so that nullifies the importance of the clicks.

I think there was an update last week, which may explain these sudden changes. For me that changed the audible click to a soft click, and a bit different (e.g. no click when you Mute it, but clicks when you unmute it or change volume etc.) I preferred the old clicks...oh well... Don't know about remote as havent tested it yet.
Whats the intellitype driver?!
