So I got my new dv5t today (two days earlier than anticipated) and everything is dandy and all except for when I tried to type. Apparently my backspace and "G" keys don't work. Is there anyway I can fix this?

I was so happy to receive my laptop and now its broken :(

Sounds like a defective keyboard. Contact HP tech support and they might be able to send you a replacement keyboard.

They said I have to send my laptop back in order to replace it. Is there anyway I can just replace it myself or is it too complicated?

There are several online guides on how to replace the keyboard. They don't appear to be too difficult. Keyboards range from 9-39 dollars on ebay.

    I had the same problem with the dv7t, except I had about 8 keys that didn't work (backspace, +, *, /, esc, f11, \, ',).

HP wanted me to send my day old notebook in for repair too, but I just decided to return it.

Now I am waiting a couple of months to buy my new laptop.
