Hello guys. I have a problem with my 3 months old DV9700. It makes a really annoying high pitch noise.

    <object width='425' height='344'><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-SFdByXdGGM&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-SFdByXdGGM&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width='425' height='344'></embed></object>

I recorded this afew weeks ago and I've talked with the HP tech support and they asked me to flash my bios, but that did not help. Im thinking about take it apart and see if I can check on the CPU-fan.

Anyone else had this annoying problem?

Sounds like something got clogged in there. I'm assuming you recently got the 9700. Send it in for repair so you don't void the warranty.

Nope, sounds like something is stuck in there and the fan blades are hitting it.

Id rather not send it in for repair. I really dont want to deal with the japanese techsupport or be without the laptop for afew weeks (months?). Im using it for schoolwork and stuff. :/

I really dont think there is something stuck in the fan tho. The sound really comes and goes as its pleased almost. Right now the laptop is making the "normal" sound (close to nothing). But sometimes (say 70% of the the the laptop is on) it starts randomly, it seems like when the fan is doing full speed it doesnt sound that weird..

I actually got a DV9000 laptop which I bought in Sweden (currently in Japan, where I bought the 9700, because the 9000 stopped working, just died on me and when I start it up it beeps 3 times and then nothing..), and Im going to take that apart and put it back together just to get the hang of it, Im experianced with computers and have built my own from the ground up. But Im not to familiar with laptops.

    Sorry for my bad english.

Hi, I was just wondering if you ever got this issue figured out, as I have been having the exact same thing happen with my dv9700.

I had this same problem with my hp dv5000t and contacted HP support.

    - Called on a Sunday
    - Box + shipping arrived on Wednesday - sent it out
    - Received my laptop back on a Friday and it hasn't had a problem since
