Did a clean install on a dv2500 with Vista 64 bit and the unit is screaming fast.

Microsoft had absolutely no problem activating the 64 bit even though it shipped with 32 bit.

Our dv6500 has a fingerprint reader, hdmi and a few other bells and whistles.

Has anyone had any issues with an upgrade on the 6500?

I think I recall issues with the fingerprint reader or related software but can't recall.

If your dv6500 came with Vista and you are doing a clean install of Vista you will have no problem with any of the drivers or software. If you take a look at this post below it should have all your answers for Vista:

If it came with Vista and you want to install XP, I know that most of the drivers and software are available, but I'm not 100% sure. If you are going from Vista to XP there are a couple sticky threads that should have all the info you need at the top of this HP section.
