I have a core i7 2720qm, and this just started happening today. I am set to high performance on battery.

When i have it on Performance optimized mode, my average core temps are around 90C when playing BF3 and keep underclocking itself to around 2.5ghz when it should around 3 to 3.3ghz.

When i have it on coolest mode, my average core temps are around 70C when playing BF3 and it still keeps underclokcing itself to around 1.8ghz when it should around 2.2ghz.

How do i stop it from underclocking itself?

Most modern laptops consume a lot of power when gaming and most batteries can not provide enough power to run both the CPU and GPU at full speed at the same time. That's why they usually throttle the CPU or GPU or both when running on battery power.

I don't recommend using ThrottleStop when on battery power to try and over ride this safety feature. You can shorten the life of your battery or damage your motherboard. Gaming laptops are designed to be plugged in.

Base clocks are 2.2 GHz, so I'm not sure how 2.5 is underclocking. It may be that you don't understand how TurboBoost works.

Edit: Nevermind, I see what you're saying. You just can't run everything at full steam on battery.
