What are some tips to prolonging my 6-cell high capacity battery that just came with my dv4t? My previous laptop which was a Sony Vaio(purchased new in Jun of 08) had a battery life of two hours. In December of 08, it all of a sudden only was able to last 50 minutes, and this became a huge problem. Are there any tips for prolonging a battery's full life as much as possible?

HP batteries are built tuff. There isn't too much you can do to make it better. Just make sure it's not subject to extreme heat. Other than that, the battery will degrade as normal unless it is defective.

heat is the main contributing factor in reducing the capacity of lithium-ion batteries over time. you can prolong the capacity of the battery by storing it (when not it use of course) in a cool place (i.e., less than 20C).

HP replaced a defective battery for me within the 1st year. HP covered shipping both ways.
