How much did you buy it for, and why do you want it to be so fast? If you aren't gaming or rendering, thats a decent setup...Give us some specifics?

Perhaps the problem might be that you find yourself in need of a notebook that is a bit more portable then a dv9500?

The reason I tend to avoid anything bigger then a 15.4'' is that I have a desktop so I really need my laptop to be more portable. I really like the fact that the dv9x00 notebooks have a full size keyboard and their styling is just as nice as the smaller notebooks.

Unless you overpaid at a retail store those are pretty nice specs for a media PC. You probably don't have a TV Tuner so you can't make use of some of the media center features but you can make use of most of the media center features. You'll never really need an external keyboard what with the full sized one.

The graphics card isn't gonna let you do heavy gaming but compared to the Intel IGPs you might get some decent results with some older games. Decent notebook all around, given it's not to big for you.
