We'll I'm still on my neverending search to find the right laptop for graduate school, and my configurations keep changing. I was initially set on the dv2000t, but I've recently decided I'd like the ability to play the occasional FPS game (BF2, Unreal 2004) on my laptop, so for the time being I've thrown that idea out the window.
I began playing around with a 5000t configuration on HP's website, and came up with a system that is pretty appealing to me. 1.8ghz Core Duo, 1gig RAM, Media center, Go 7400 (I realize I won't be able to play on high settings - no problem), 80gig HD. With the deal's on HP's site, this computer is sub $1,000 which is even more appealing to me (I've set a cap at $1,300, but lower is better).
I've already put off purchasing a notebook all summer, but this deal seems to be pulling me in. Is this a good enough purchase to go ahead and go through with? Or should I keep waiting another month or two and see what happens when Merom is launched in these laptops? It also seems like with all the deals for this notebook they could be preparing for the launch of the dv6000t? I'd be willing to wait for that assuming it has a good graphics solution (Go 7400, x1600 or Go 7600).

Thanks for that link. Makes my decision harder now. Too bad it doesn't work with the business class for the nc8430.
