Do not advise purchasing refurb units from HP Outlet - they have a crippled warranty. Non-refurb units on ebay have the full 3yr onsite warranty with perhaps some minor cosmetic defects.

2510P recommended over 2530P only on price. It's bottlenecks are the 1.8" ZIF HDD and the single-channel graphics. The second can be somewhat overcome if you overclock the 2510P. Storage speed can be improved by using either a 1.8" ZIF SSD or a 2.5" SATA or PATA HDD (PATA recommended, even using the 1.8" via a 1.8-to-2.5" adapter) via a $19US-28US delivered optical bay caddy (see sig). 2510P's go on ebay for b/w $320-$400 with a 1.8" ZIF HDD, optical drive, 6-cell and remaining balance of 3yr onsite warranty. The more desirable ones with a 5400rpm 1.8" ZIF HDD. Ebay search for 2510P is here.

2530P is updated and newer tech - has dual channel X4500 graphics, 45nm superlfm capable cpu, SATA connectors for primary and optical drive bays. Ebay search for 2530P here, shows they start at $650US, the cheaper ones coming with SU9300-1.2Ghz CPU, a 2.5" HDD, no optical drive and only 3-cell battery. The $874 SL9400 version a better performance choice. Neither ebay product coming with an optical drive.

WEI scores showing comparative performance b/w 2510P and 2530P are here. In summary, the 2510P being a good bang-per-buck option when you are aware of it's limits and ways around them.

Thanks for the insight into the 2510 vs. 2530. So you are thinking that it is better to buy a used one on ebay with the original warranty than go through the HP Outlet site?

The HP outlet shows a price for with 1 year warranty and another for with 3 year warranty. The 2710p and 2510p have very attractive prices right now...

Can't see any 2510P, but there is a 2710P for $449 with 1yr warranty. The 2710P has dual-channel RAM setup, but no optical drive. The particular one being sold appears to be a 4200rpm 1.8" ZIF HDD, so if budget for a 64GB 1.8" ZIF SSD then would make a reasonable performer.

I would never buy anything that is refurbished.I rather pay $+ but knowing that it's new. Most of the times the cheap becomes expensive..My opinion>>

I always kinda figured if it's got an HP warranty who cares. I'm betting a good portion of them are just canceled orders anyways.

Yea I'd agree 100% with Zimbros12 when he said that "cheap can get expensive", and I'd would really hate to spend valuable time on the phone and shipping back and forth when something did happen.
You get what you pay for!

I just recently (3weeks ago) bought a 2510p to replace my nc2400 from ebay.
ended upp paying £400 including shipping from the Uk to Sweden.
When i was inspecting my laptop I noticed a sticker underneath that stated it had 3 year warranty plan. So I called Hp sweden and talked to them.
And they transfered the warranty and ownership to me.
The warranty runs out sept 11 2010. I must say I think I got a great deal.
Although I´m allready planing on buying a 2530p when I get back from my vacation. Only so I can have a Sata ssd and opticaldrive.
    I really don´t like the 4200rpm harddive...

Most people with a 2510p would like a 2530p for exactly the same reason...I sure would but can't justify the expense right now.

Well i´m not 100% sure i will go for the upgrade to a 2530p.
I could allways upgrade to an ssd in my 2510p.

On the other hand the 2530p also has dual memory and faster cpu and graphics.
I´m thinking of saving the money I had going towards an ssd and sell my 2510p. I absolutely love the 2510p but i´m thinkin of all the advantages the 2530p has, and the fact that you can acctualy get the pretty cheap on ebay.

I hope the prices stay the same untill august when I get home again.
