man, i ran my car over my girl's HP 1420US laptop and the LCD screen cracked heavily (everything else works fine). now i'm seeking the replacement LCD screen for it.

    HP LCD part # 373054-001

    cracked LCD screen # LTN140W1-L01

Found this deal: QUANTA (maybe QD14WL01) for $150/ebay.

is QUANTA good? right part for replacement?

i contacted HP they offered me an unbelievable deal: $687 for the replacement. ha ha (i would wanna ask them to shoot me to death at that moment).

You should be able to find a new screen for about $120. I recently replaced the screen on my DV1000 (DV1411se) with the Samsung LTN140W1-L01.

My original screen was the AUOptronics BW140EW01, which due to my stupidity ended up with a 4 inch long scratch. I'd seen some threads on this site about bad Samsung screens recently and specifically did not want one so I bought a brand new AUO screen in an auction which specified the AUO part number. The seller sent me the Samsung one instead. If I didn't get dinged $60 for customs by UPS I would have sent the cr@ppy Samsung screen back. Upon powering it up I discovered it had lots of specks of dirt inside the screen, big and small bits spread mostly over the bottom inch or so of the screen, and a couple of light spots near the middle. It was almost enough to make me put the scratched AUO screen back. I've now kinda gotten used to it, but one of these days I'm gonna take that LCD apart and clean out as much of the dirt as I can.

Anyways, I know for sure that the video cable for the AUO and the Samsung screen are the same. There are apparently other equivalent types such as the Quanta but you'll have to make sure the position of the LCD connector is the same, otherwise your video cable will not be able to plug in.

EDIT: I had to go do something else while I was typing my response and now I see you've posted links to the screens you're looking at. The "Zero dead pixel" and "Zero spot" could be worth it for the $35 difference over what I paid. Are you in the US? My problem with returning my lousy screen was not with the seller but with UPS -- I can't get back the $60 that UPS charged me for customs brokerage and taxes if I sent the Samsung screen back, and I'd have to pay it again for the replacement screen. If you're in the States that shouldn't be a problem for you.
