I just check HPs website, and they are offering QX9300 just for 225$+ from p8400...how is that possible?
-
Possibly a mistake and they might change the price as they did with some of the HDX16t's things. But it might not be... go for it now or possibly wait for a better GPU... Who knows, they might implement one. Honestly the HDX16t/HDX18t deserve better GPU's.
-
Or perhaps they made a deal with Intel which stipulates that since it can't be overclocked in HP computers, we can't charge our customers for an unavailable feature.

FUK, ITS TRUE!
QX9300 free for everyone! its crazy a tdp 55w processor in a thin chassis
consumer laptop. and intel is ready to volume ship mobile quad now? -
Is the QX9300 montevina?
-
so i now get hp for 1500,sell CPU for 1000,buy p9500 and be happy with my 750$ laptop
-
Better than the ridiculous $1100+ that it appears to be retailing for...
-
Wow, that's cheap. I would love to see how much the BIOS allows it to overclock and overvolt.
They probably might use a different motherboard and BIOS for it.
^ And where is the QX9300 available as Retail ? -
-
Gaah !! That pricing is totally preposterous.
Anyway, you'll see them on ebay after a month of so for ~$300 or so.
And they are not Retail, they are OEM.
-
no, hp live assitance said hdx18t is due for november, pricing is a joke, not accepting orders.
-
-
guess some hp agents just clueless.
there will be a trillion orders for hp hdx18t if qx9300 configuration listing is correct .
and no1 ever buys workstations . -
Would there be anything stopping someone from swapping out the QX9300 in this machine with, say, the Montevina P8600 or T9400 from another notebook (that also supports the QX9300)?
-
And changing the CPU will void the warranty. -
Also, once the qx9300 was swapped into the OCZ it should be overclockable (so long as the OCZ has the thermals/voltage for overclocking) right?
Thanks for the help!! -
You will probably have to do a moderate amount of dissembly. It shouldn't be too difficult, then again that depends on your experience in working with laptops and desktops. I've taken apart several laptops to reapply thermal paste. If you've had any experience with building desktops and using thermal grease there, it would definitely help. Applying thermal paste for the first time can be tricky. Just find a service manual and thermal paste guide and follow the steps carefully.
-
note: when people say it cant be overclocked, they mean that the MB/bios wont allow it, but there is no HW on the CPU itself that it keeping it from being OCed. the qx9300 on another platform should OC.
QX9300 in HDX 18T for 225$???
