Whats best place to get a good deal on hp notebooks - online or store not a an issue?

i am looking to buy hp pavilion dv4000 (or dv4030 or dv4040 - i guess they are all pretty much the same)

Costco has a dv4000 for $1299 : 1.73GHz Intel Centrino, 15.4" screen, 1GB mem, 80GB HD, DVDRW, 6.5 lbs. This pretty much the configuration I am looking for.

Is that a good deal? Can you point me to places where I could possibly get a better deal?

Dell publishes coupons regularly and its see on sites like edealinfo.com. Does HP/Compaq have such patron sites for me to work out a better deal?

I would really appreciate your tips

    thx

Office Depot, CompUSA, Best Buy, and Costco seem to regularly be running specials on configure-to-order (CTO) laptops, either Compaq or HP (which are the same, BTW). Your best bet is to check the forums and the Sunday ads to see what's running where. HP doesn't really use coupons, but the will use some large rebates, in combination with the particular retailer, that can result in some great deals.

I originally ordered a Compaq from Office Depot but got tired of waiting and cancelled the order. I then ordered my current computer (a refurbished unit) from Ecost for a very good deal. I saved enough that I can still add a 2 year extended warranty from HP and save over a new one. Of course, not everyone is comfortable buying refurbished.

    Hope this helps.
