i got a new V3000Z, wiped it and lost everything. found what i needed online, drivers and stuff and even found the quickplay 2.0 cd (~430 mb) and the qpw folder (i think thats it, the folder that installs quickplay in windows). i have 1024 mb (unformated) at the end of my hd and install the qp 2.0 cd. install the qpw folder in windows. also have the quicklaunch buttons installed. also when i am in windows disk management, the 1024 partition has ~450 mb free space (might be 450 used, cant remember, point is all 1 gig of space isnt used). qp loads fine when in windows..but when i push the qp button when the laptop is turned off, it loads to boot, windows splash screen, then blue screen crash. a possibility is that the qpw file i downloaded might not be for quickplay 2.0 cd, which is why it wont load from poweroff, but will in windows?
any ideas?

As far as I know, no one has gotten quickplay to reinstall after a format, except with recovery CDs.
Recovery CDs are available now though, check the thread I just made, they are only $16 shipped. -
i dont need to do the recovery really, i have all the essential drivers and would rather put on the few things i need, then take off the tons of stuff i dont.
besides, there has to be a way to reinstall quickplay without doing a full recovery. -
Well like I said, no one has been able to perform the install successfully. When booting to QP, they just get the BSOD.
Also, I dont believe that pressing the QP button should make the windows splash screen appear, it should go straight to quickplay, shouldn't it?
BTW, mind posting where you got the QP software? -
Go to www.notebookforums.com and there is a long thread under Compaq?HP Notebook entitled HP's QuickPlay v2.0. There are links to the disk image and descriptions on the re-installation. There are at least two different ways of installing QP2.0. It is even more tricky that QP1.x. You can only have one logical partition prior to the installation. There is no problem in installing/re-installing the program if you have a compatible machine.
QP2.0 is no longer LINUX and it does boot with Windows splash first. -
Thanks for the link. But I have the same problems as Stevee.
Is it possible that only QP1.x will work? or 2.1?
Qp 2.0
