What's this about fatwallet, and does it combine with HPA discount?

 

I bit the bullet...
1100 shipped with student discount plus 25 coming back through my discover (limit was 500 on the card) then I thought I shouldve just used only my debit card so I could get extra points through HP (would equal about 60 cashback) so I called trying to cancel but they offered me 85 so i said screw it.
1100 - 25 cashback - 85 = 990 shipped with the i5-450.

Now I just gotta sell my G51 lol.

And in regards to the comment of "devil" users, pardon me if as a college student $1200-1500 is a large investment and would like to get the best price possible. Also, every time I have called I had a legitimate gripe, be it a lowering in CPU price as I ordered at zero hour or in regards to ordering a slice battery separate from my original order. I did not recommend the $100 off, the hp rep did. So check your virtues/morals/high horse elsewhere. Let everyone do as they choose and don't judge others since you are unaware of their financial state.

What are you doing buying a $1200 - $1500 laptop if you're a college student in a tight situation financially? The Envy 14 is obviously a want for you, not a necessity. You will do fine in college with a $800 laptop. There are some fine HP coupons out right now for other system. You should look into those.

 

Agreed...if I can get $100 from a 3 minute phone call, I am going to take that $100 any day of the week. That $100 can go towards books, clothes, food etc. for college. People can say what they want, but the HP rep said she was just trying to make me happy, and how can they make anyone happier than giving free money???? If you don't want to do it then don't do it, no one is forcing you.

HP has no idea on the status of peoples orders, they told me they send a request for an update and it can take 48 hours to get an update on the order from that request.

 

Of course there are people taking advantage, my point was that not everyone is, and it's a simple process (such as joining Borders rewards, etc) to get the EPP if you are not a student.

 

It would cost them too much money to verify accounts anyways ^.^

anyways, I'd like my envy to JUST SHIP ALREADY!!!

Hell, I'm going through college right now without a laptop and I'm doing A-OK. Truthfully speaking, I'm buying the E14 as a toy more than anything; I don't need it for school whatsoever...my desktop is plenty.

What I do find funny is all these "Omg engineering school, must buy uber laptop!" kids. Not that there's anything wrong with engineering or buying the E14 for that use, but from personal experience I bet that a large portion of of these engineering students will find themselves using their E14 for something entirely different in one or two years

I called HP because I like free money / credit.

I told them about the wanting to downgrade my item, and I told them about the $45 reduction in processors.

I got $50 back instead of downgrading from the 520. Then I told them about the $45 dollars which when I went on the site just wasn't happening, so, bizarrely enough, the guy agreed to give me half of the $45 if I was okay with that.

So I got $72.5 dollars back O_O

I feel like these things are all random, these people are case to case and just random haha.

Just wanted to share how I did it to help you envy 14 purchasers.

 

Here it is the first week of July and still there are no HP Envy 14's being sold in the US...an obvious lack of any significant reviews, no real information concerning the possibility of yet another HP laptop with heat related issues.

- What is holding up the release of the Envy 14 (design issues..)?
- Will this laptop be available by Fall 2010
- If there are heating issues, then how will sealing the bottom and it's air vent holes by a lithium battery slice..help?

It just feels to me that HP knows what issues were present with their previous Envy models...and they maybe holding this model up while they double check for possible design issues..

Questions:

1) Do you have to have sufficient funds in your account in order to use Bill Me Later? I want to pay for the laptop in 6 months because I don't have the money at the moment, but I wasn't sure how it worked because you have to go pretty far through the checkout process.

2) Can e14 be the "random" friday ban?

 

I guess to each his own then. I'm a JC student right now who is transferring to a uni in the fall and I've become increasingly dependent on my laptop. More and more professors are switching to a powerpoint type of lecture so students can have lectures on hand as well. Having your laptop for quick notes is very convenient. This is not applicable for all classes like calc/math where the pencil and paper are best. Also, to save money I've gotten used to working out of textbooks online or pdf which save me a lot of money and are free sometimes. Just as i type this I have a bunch of tabs open, 4 ppt notes open, a textbook online open, the pdf sol. manual, and 3 word docs open; I'm on campus right now. Even though I don't work with any big programs, having a snappy, portable laptop is really important to me. Lugging my dv6700se with the big battery sticking out the bottom has been ok but not very practical . I also need something well made because tugging around a plastic laptop in a backpack everywhere will take its toll. I feel like the E14, as a complete package, is a steal for the price. To get around the battery life I think I'll just buy an extra battery, no biggie.

BTW does anyone here have experience with HP full HD LCD monitors. I'm looking at getting a 22 inch (under $200, yes please).

man, I sure wish they'd reinstate that BCB. I don't NEED a laptop, but I'm ready to get off my 2-year old 10" netbook. I see Dell has a 15% coupon for the outlet and a bunch of Studio XPS's that you could snag for around $750-$800. If those had switchable graphics, I'd be all over it.

 

I get this part, but when is the credit checked? Do I place the order and they'll get back to me if I'm approved or I if i'm denied to they take it from a credit card I give them. I just can't have the latter happening until my school money comes in

 

Been lurkering in this thread for a while now. I ordered mine on first and and built date of july 7th. However its been over a day and still no notice. You guys say we should wait 24-48 hrs? I got standard shipping so it should be here next wednesday to friday? Then the 2 day shipping guys should be getting theirs tomorrow right?

honestly the two day guys will probably get theirs monday or tuesday of there are no delays.

the 5-7 day guys wednesday to friday to next monday if no real delays.


it'll just depend. Also yeah the order status page lags by a day or two. If there are no updates either way by tomorrow afternoon, give HP a call.

 

I disagree with this 24-48 hour lag of the shipping notifications...

I went back and read through the Envy 17 thread...Looked at when people posted that theirs shipped, back tracked to when they ordered. Many of the ones i found that ordered 5/19 got a shipment notice on 5/31 or 6/1 when they had a ship date of 6/1 from what i could tell...
ontop of this, their shipment notifications referenced that there was no information yet under tracking as fedex had just received the shipment info...if it was lagged by 1-2 days then when you get it fedex would already have the shipment info when you get it...

maybe i got it wrong but....

when i have had things 2 day fedexed from verizon, i basically get the notification right away and see the shipment/delivery the next day.

 

If we get the 2 week delays that the E17 got I am going to flipppppppppp out

 

I am going to call them later tonight and complain. I need this laptop by the 15th!!
