    Good day to you all.
I would like to ask if the HP DV6TQE is worth the bucks. I'm planning to buy this sexy machine soon but I'm worried for the negative feedbacks that HP, in general, have been garnering throughout the years based from what I read in the internets.

How is it going for you?
How long have you had the laptop?
    Any major/minor issues?
Can it be future proofed for like 2-4 years?

Select edition owner here. Only difference is that I opted for the i5 over the quad.
I'm very pleased with my purchase. Build quality, battery life, and screen were up to my expectations. (get the 1080p).
I've had it for almost 3 weeks.
No major issues. The screen had a bluish hue, but that was easily rectified by altering the colors a bit in the drivers.
Depends on your expectations. It should be plenty fast for years to come.

    I have to say this:
    my hp dv6tqe good aspects:
    - good CPU / GPU (run current applications + games without problem)
    - large HDD.
    - 8gb ram.
    - Blue ray.

    negative aspects:
    - Average screen (HD.) So get (FHD).
    - Average speakers (loud but not clear)
    - some keyboard flex.
    - mine came with fan problem (always run at full speed) which was solved by dissembling the whole laptop in order to fix loose fan cable connection!!

overall the laptop has decent specifications regarding future proof aspect.
but keep in mind if you get 61xx model, there is OpenGL problem not running on discrete GPU (may resolved in future through Bios/driver update).

I've had mine for about 2-3 days, and here are my impressions so far

    Pros
-Quadcore is super fast (install an SSD and your comp will boot in less than 20 sec, and run apps a lot faster)
-Full HD display with great color replication, and also Matte so less glare than glossy display
-Solid build quality and strong hinges
-Fingerprint reader + HP SimplePass software makes logging into websites easy and you can replace typing password with swiping finger which makes everything more convenient
-Super quiet for daily tasks (especially with the SSD)

    Cons
-Body of the laptop is a fingerprint magnet, just touching it with regular use shows smudges in the light
-Touchpad is not that responsive when using multitouch (definitely no Macbook) and has friction to the fingers which makes it a little difficult to use
-Difficult to use battery/HDD hinge to upgrade parts

Overall, very satisfied with my purchase, I would give this laptop a 4/5, and thats only because I would have liked to see a backlit keyboard. I would also recommend getting an SSD drive because the performance increase was definitely visible and gives Windows Rating of 7.9 for HDD.

I am new at this computer thing too, I am very happy with my purchase, thus far. I will be keeping this for at least 4 yrs. That is how old my old inspiron 1721 is, and still works somewhat. I have purchased a lapdesk for mine to be on my lap, it does tend to get warm while playing games, movies and such. I have been able to find alot of info through this fantastic website. To all the people on here, KUDOS, for being so helpful to us "newbies"!

I recently bought this laptop online.
I could see an yellow or a softwhite patch or light at the right side bottom of the display. I've returned the laptop and i received a new one. The new one also have the same problem... really fedup..
any suggestion what the real issue could be?

I'm pretty damn happy with my dv6qe, especially that HP fixed the graphics switching, WHOHOO for overclocking!!!. The batterylife is GREAT with the 9 cell as I'm getting at least 8+hours on a full charge while on the intel graphics with the screen at about 70% brightness. 1080p matte screen is great!

The downsides are: The umber shows fingerprints but I liked the look of it more than the silver, mostly due to the trackpad. I'm happy with the umber. The seams where the plastic meets the metal don't fit tightly on mine, I have some light leak on the right hand side where the power cable is, but it dosen't bother me too much. I have a bit of keyboard flex towards the upper top right and I think there might be a fix for it, but it's not bad enough for me to bother with. The left palmrest gets pretty warm while gaming as my CPU as well, I may look into taking it apart and re-pasting in the future.

Sorry to hear about your screen nagen, looks like your HP logo is leaking through :/ . The fact that that happened twice to you REALLY sucks.

Whoa i have the 9 cell, and i get only about 6 hours on 20 percent brightness. Thats weird.

Also my hp logo bleeds through, only when my screen turns off. When its on it isnt a problem at all.

I think the build quality is top notch, it feels very sturdy.

My only knock is that the keyboard doesnt feel high quality, and the battery for the 9 cell wiggles a bit. Kinda annoying.

Yea. I too suspect the HP logo and i could see that only when the screen turns off. But the worst part is the tech support couldnt confirm it (probably intentionally!). I spent around 5hrs over phone with the tech support.

But it can never happen unless there is something wrong with the way its built. that too two pieces...
