I just purchased a HP dv200t (dv2035us). The anti-Virus software that came with my system has a 60 day live update policy. Does this mean that from the moment I activate the anti virus software, I can within 60 days get live updates from the website? Or is it 60 times that I can obtain updates? Any suggestions on the best way to purchase a further extension?

Also if I now reinstall my system with the recovery disks, does the 60 day update policy start again?

It means that you've 60 days from activation to use the anti-virus and get live updates,as for the reinstall situation I've heard that with some products you can do this, but with something such as anti-virus I would think not,not sure though.

Thanks for the clarification, but are you sure that I will not be able to use the anti virus software after 60 days? I was under the impression that I will no longer be able to get live updates, but could stil; continue using the software.

it will be 60 days from whenever you activate the anti virus software.

its not worth reinstalling to find out if you can haggle a free antivirus, even if it would work

you wont be able to, anyway, because your 60 day clock will not be on your end.

also, you can get really great antivirus protection with live updates for free. its called avg antivirus. hunt for it. i highly reccomend this.

    Edit:

after 60 days you will probably still be able to use the software, but that is totally useless without the updates. those updates come very very regularly and antivirus software is pretty much useless without them, it will be entirely unable to protect your system in a matter of days, or possibly even less

Basically instead of using an antivirus like that, delete it off, and use a free more secure option like AVG Free, Avast!, or NOD

Guys thanks for all the information. I think I will consider moving over to AVG once my '60 day trial' elapses.

Why suffer from bad performance? Remove it right away and get AVG or Avast.
