Yes, the 3610QM has turbo boost up to 3.3 Ghz. Standard frequency is 2.3 Ghz. You can see the Intel specs on the processor here: Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz)

The turbo boost is what causes the insane temps however. My first day with the laptop the CPU hit 102 C while running Intel Burn Test. It passed the test though. During gaming it hits mid to high 90's C, and the area around the WASD keys gets pretty hot. After about an hour gaming it can become uncomfortable.

The way to keep temps down is to set the MAX CPU speed to 99% under power options. By doing this the CPU never goes into turbo boost, but the temps reduce by 12-15 degrees C. If you set it to 98% you wil see another 5-10 C drop in temps.

I thought it did..... go figure!! Thanks so much for the info. I hope I'm not going to be disappointed with the PC if I do buy.
