Hi, I've been lurking here for a long time now getting lots of handy information about my dv6tqe (I had an older account that I sometimes posted with but I've totally forgotten its information), but I have a question that I can't seem to find a straight answer to anywhere. I know that the bios in the dv6 has a whitelist that only allows certain wireless adapters to work in the laptop. I made the mistake of ordering my laptop without bluetooth so it came with the standard intel 1000 card.

I was wondering, could I order the Centrino Wireless 1030 and install it in my laptop? It's basically the same card but with bluetooth. I'm not 100 percent sure if this would work because the card would not be an official "hp part". I remember reading somewhere that you need to order the part off of HP's website (which costs a lot more than on say amazon) for the laptop to accept it. Could someone confirm if this is true? Could I replace the Centrino 1000 in my DV6qe with a 1030 off of Amazon? Is there a better wireless adapter I could get that the laptop would accept? Or does it need to be a specific HP part ordered off the HP website? I don't really care for a dual band card, I just want bluetooth.

    Thanks in advance.
