Well I bought my DV8000T in August of 2006.

Ever since then the Laptop has been nothing but problems.

The first Laptop only lasted for about three months, at which point in time I had to send it in for repair. The Sound & Graphics were having extreme issue's in doing just about anything that wasn't on the desktop, from Half Life 2 all the way to Battlefield, etc. Fortunately for me (or so I thought) they had just discontinued the DV8000 series so to my joy I recieved a brand new DV9000T. Unfortunately this entire process took over 2 months, from the point of sending in the DV8000T to recieving the DV9000T.

Now recently the motherboard has gone out on the DV9000T, not to mention the Quickplay Buttons & Keyboard. I sent it in for repair yet again and they repaired/replaced the motherboard, quickplay and keyboard. I was quite impressed because from the time I shipped it to the time I got it back was only around five days.

But to my annoyance, the sound card and graphic card are having issue's again, along with the infamous high pitch noise that seems to plague every HP Laptop I have ever used. Is there anything I can do other than send it in for repairs and pray that the next repair I recieve will be permanent?

I am also an IT Tech and have done everything I can possibly think of to every Laptop I have recieved from HP. HP is really making me want to go throw my reformatting disc's out a window and use them for skeet. I'm definitely not a big fan of having to restore all my data on a monthly, heck weekly basis.

    Thanks

P.S. What exactly are the specifics for Virginia, USA Lemon Laws in regards to Computers?

P.S.S. Do you see any chance of resolution with an HP Case Manager? The only route that I can see worth taking at this point is to switch to a different HP model. But even then to be honest I'd rather have a full refund and never see another HP Computer as long as I live but I don't see that happening.

General lemon laws are three repairs on the same issue before replacment I believe. I believe they will keep trying to repair the issue, you have to ask for a replacement. Don't count on a refund.

get your replacement via a case manager or something like that and then sell and get something else.

you will not get a refund, it is far too late for that.

    Alright thanks.

The DV9000T Series to my surprise has been discontinued, any idea what my options are going to be?

I am still awaiting a call from my Case Manager and am starting to get slightly fed up at the time it takes to get into contact with one. They say 24 Hour's but it usually seems to take upwards of a week.

dv9500t is the new model, if they do replace it, make sure they don't give you the intel x3100, instead they give you the 8600mGS which is the upgrade from the go7600. u get more money that way

customer support always sux unless you're a business customer, keep emailing and calling til they reply. if all fails maybe threatening to file a complaint with the US organization that deals with lemon deals (in NZ we have a consumer rights group)
