I am thinking about a compaq v4000t. However, I could not find information on the chipset of v4000t.
Another question, I don't know why one 512M memory is so more expensive than 2*256M. For dual channel, why would one choose one 512M?

It's identical to the HP dv4000 just sans the instant media and the aethestics
Dual channel = minimal returns
Most people just go one stick so they can easily upgrade later on, and instead of ending up with an extra stick with no use.
edit: Chaz moved thread so fast when I was reading it it was in Hardware, when I finished posting it was in HP/Compaq forum -
it's so much more expensive because you WANT it! And if you know enough to know why you want it, they figure you'll pay for it.

Indeed, thats the marketing of HP. It can be especially seen in HP dv8000, where an upgrade from 80g hard drive to 100g is $125, while in V4000T is only $15!

Agreed with what coriolis says. You are better off getting a single stick, that way you can easily upgrade in the future.
