Hey, my envy is supposed to ship on 2/1 and I got the radiance screen. I also ordered the i7 720QM and I'm sort of wondering if that might have been a mistake. I was wondering if the CPU is soldered onto the motherboard cause I might want to downgrade it to an i5. Also, does anyone know if there would be issues with doing that namely because of the different graphics card needed for the i7. I searched the forum and I can't find anything about this. Maybe i'm using the wrong search terms. I don't want to return it because I want to keep the radiance screen.

    Thanks

Not gonna happen, i3&i5 use different MOBO's than the i7.

In this case you are out of luck. Even if you return that one, you will not be able to reorder an i5 with a radiance.
You need to decide if you prefer :
    - i7 + nice screen + short battery life (+2h)
    - i5 + average screen + longer battery life (+4h)

I had the same problem, I got an i7+bv at 1st. So when the radiance came back I didnt hesitate to order an i5 and return the i7.

I was afraid of that. If I put the i5 in the computer would it just not turn on or would just the integrated graphics not work and only stay on dedicated graphics? I got the i7 to future-proof the laptop a bit. I had a sony vaio vgn-s260 for 6 years until it died on me, so I tend to keep my laptops for a while. I guess I'll just have to stay close to a socket cause I don't want to lose that radiance screen hahah I hope it's going to be worth it.

    Thanks for the help

It wouldn't even post to BIOS if you dropped an i5 in.

If battery life is important to you, maybe consider buying a slice battery from the parts store. It will double your battery life, and you do not have to carry it around when you don't need it.

Yea I want to get one but the hp website says they're out of stock. I found some on eBay and amazon but those were like $220. I rather get 2 standard batteries for that price.

Weird. I had searched for it on the parts store and it always sent me to the hp office to order it. Awesome. I think i'll order one once I get the laptop and see how the battery life is. Thanks for all the help guys!

Is there any promo codes for getting the battery? Like free shipping or something?
