Greetings to the forum,
I have been trolling here for the past couple of days to make up my mind on the Envy 15.
I pulled the trigger and purchased an envy with these specs,
• Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
• Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz
• 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
• 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
• 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5830 Graphics - For i7 Processors
• 15.6" diagonal Full High Definition LED HP Ultra Brightview Widescreen Display (1920x1080)
• Webcam Only
• Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
• HP Color Matching Keyboard
• 6 Cell Lithium Ion Polymer Battery
I will use the laptop for everything. I will use AutoCad and other Civil Engineering applications. I don't play games much but I like the Total War games and Mass Effect.
With the i7-720qm processor,
If the overheating is as bad as some people say it is I may cancel the order.
Will the laptop overheat? When it does, how hot is it to the touch? I am seeing a lot of statements about how hot it gets.
Your insight is appreciated

From what I read it will get warm, but the machine won't overheat. It is a metal chassis, so it will conduct heat faster and feel hotter than plastic might, even if it were at the same temperature.
