You can check out the pc de-crapifier:

Don't worry, it always asks you before deleting something. -
I'm not sure why you said you can't do a clean install. All you need is a recovery disc.

On your hard drive, there should be a folder called SWSetup. That folder contains installers for all the programs on your laptop, so even if you delete a program and something stops working, you can reinstall it.

This is my first laptop and I really dont want to mess anything up. Plus, dont I need some of this bloatware for the webcam, mouse scroll etc? Redownloading it will be just a big of a pain.

No. The recovery disk contains the same bloatware that comes with the laptop.
Try it, you'll see what I mean.
You'll need either a retail version of Vista or an Upgrade Anytime disk to perform a clean install.

that's correct, the recovery disk is what you are already seeing so I don't know why anyone would think the RD would be cleaner...
You would just need a clean retail version and save your SWSetup folder somewhere so you can reinstall what you need..
I guess the question would be if the retail version would work with the HP's.
I heard that the HP's use SLIC BIOS or something like that so Vista will read the BIOS for your serial# so you don't have to activate it..
I just don't know if the retail version is setup to do that? -
You don't have to redownload....it's already on your hard drive...just look for the SWsetup folder.
did you even click on the link that was posted?

I never said the recovery disk didn't contain bloatware.
