Hello everyone,
I am interested in the HP Pavilion dv2225nr but I have a few questions:
1) The current best buy price is $799.99 (online only), I was reading in another thread someone got it for $750 from best buy, but is this laptop still a good deal at the current price?
2) This model comes with the AMD TL-50, should I consider waiting or paying more to get the AMD TL-52 (i.e. is there even a noticeable difference?)
3) This model comes with 1 GB of ram, I am thinking I might need 2 GB of ram, is there a free slot that I can add another 1 GB stick or does the laptop come with 2 512 sticks and if I want 2 GB I have to buy 2x1GB sticks?
Thanks for any help!!!

Welcome to the forum,
First, what kind of task are you going to perform on this laptops, and what is your budget
1)I think its an okay price. for the price and features
3) iT probably comes standard with 1 gig (2 slots with 512 in each) so you can take out one stick at add a gig to make is 1.5 or take out both the sticsk and make it 2 gigs

While I am into games and such I do not plan on playing any high end (i.e. BF2) games. Currently I am going to school for web design, so I will using a lot of programs like Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, with multiple programs running at the same time. I am aware the screen is small so obviously I do not plan on using this laptop as my primary computer but I would like to be able to be portable. My budget is fairly limited so the lower price the better, however I want something that has decent performance. As of right now I want to keep my purchase under $900.
I am not sure that I really need 2 GB of ram, but I was thinking I might. That is too bad there is not a free slot for me to slide in another 1 gb stick.
Thanks for the info, and if you have any other suggestions on a laptop that is portable but fairly powerful that is around or less than $900 by all means please let me know. -
I am going to bump this in hopes of getting another response.

You really ought to have 2GB RAM for that workload, especially given how much memory Vista uses for itself. Ideally I'd configure a build-to-order machine from hp.com with 2GB RAM, a TL-56, 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth, the webcam, Vista Home Premium, 80GB HD, DVD burner... but that'd be around $1100, mostly due to the 2GB RAM. HP does have an academic discount program, that'll save you a bit, I think one of the stickies here describes that?
