Hi, everyone. I went to www.hp.com and buy a laptop this morning. Initially, I wanted to pay by a international credit card. It's a mastercard. After the confirming order process, it just told that the order is diclined and I should call hp. I thought my credit card cant be used for online shopping. So I customized the computer again and this time pay by a US debit card. It succeed and I received the order accepted email after several hours.
BUT, when I called my credit card issuer to check the balance this afternoon, they told me I have a big transaction recently and the amount is just the charge of first diclined order. And they also told the transaction is not over, the money is just freezing but whenever they want they can take them away. I called HP immediately and I told them I want to cancel that order. They said there is no order to cancel because the order itself is declined. I can't figure out if my order is declined why they charge me? And what I should do now?
    Thank you very much

Ask the bank if it's an authorization or a charge. An authorization is just a temporary hold on the card in the amount of the charge. All charge activity happens this way until monies can be transfer between banks overnight.

Authorizations are released within 48 hours with most banks.

I suspect it is just an authorization.

    Nothing to fret over.

    Thanks, 2.0 and Zenica.
I've called the bank and they said they were waiting the settlement from hp. And if hp do not settle up with them or cancel the authorization they will keep my money freezing for a month!!
When will hp cancel the authorization? Because status of my declined order is still be in "Order declined; Please call". And what should I say to them to make sure they will cancel that order completely?
    Thank you

they probably already cancelled it. but it takes 2 days for the credit card company to receive the cancellation. the credit card company freezing your money for 1 month sounds normal. thats what they normally do. i remember when i returned a $300 thing at bestbuy, it took 1 month for me to get my money back on credit card
