I downloaded a 22 minute dvd film onto my computer into the Sonic Software so that I can burn some copies. It works fine. What I cannot figure out is how to watch/play the downloaded film on my computer from the downloaded file. What program allows me to open this file and play the movie? And how to do it?

I have tried media, quickplay etc. and I can't seem to find the right software to open this file and play it without inserting the original dvd.

Everytime I open the "file" it opens the sonic software which is the burning software... I cannot find anywhere in that program just to play the film instead of burning it....

You need to have a DVD player and I recommand KMP (kmplayer). After opening the player, use open file menu to brower to the file and play it.

david4455 at the My computer window, go to tools, folder options, view then untick the hide extensions for known file types and tell us what extension the file is. I think its an image file, the contents inside the image are the actual dvd contents, what you do is burn the actual image file itself. download something like daemon tools and load the file thats in the dvd with that and see what happens.

You may not have the proper codec. Try and see if DIVX player works.

    If the above doesnt work:
When you look at the icon what does it look like? If unknown what is the file extension?

What you want is Daemon Tools. You can download it from filehippo.com. What it does is make virtual CD/DVD drives that you can mount the ISO images to that you have been burning to DVD. Once the program is installed and running you select how many virtual drives you want (1 in your case). Then through the task bar icon you right click, select the drive, then select mount image. You select the movie you downloaded, then it will appear in My Computer just like you inserted a DVD into your computer with that movie on it.
