What's the trick? I loosened and removed the two screws, but the part under the rubber foot is still firmly in the case. Is there something I am overlooking???? I don't want to crack the door...

    Thanks

It must just be an unusually tight fit. I've taken that door off innumerable times and don't recall any extra step.

    Hey Bobmitch,

It is just a really tight fit. I thought to that mine might break but I just wedged a screw driver in between the gap and it opened up. You should be fine. Just wedge it in gently. good luck :)

I don't have this HP, but putting in a screw driver is a good idea, but you could hurt the plastic. Try something plastic, like a probe tool, or something like it so this way it won't hurt the finish as much.

I've used a butter knife and haven't cracked or scratched the outside of the computer. It pops off easier after the first few times.

It's just a troublesome tab in the center. I was on the phone with support regarding a bad HDD when they had to grab a floor model to verify I wasn't just being paranoid.

They even stated that "it shouldn't be this tough". I would recommend the screwdriver tip but also append it with using a thin cloth or papertowel to wrap it in to protect your laptop's case.
