Not long ago I purchased the Hp DV6 Quad Edition from Bestbuy. This one to be exact.
HP Pavilion 15.6" Laptop featuring AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M - Black : 15" Laptops - Best Buy Canada
I was very happy with my purchase at first but after looking at the one from Hp's website my satisfaction decreased. First of all my HP laptop does not come with the advertised Beats audio nor does it come with the fingerprint reader. I do not think it even comes with USB 3 even though it said it does on the Bestbuy website. Also after using my laptop for a week I noticed that the center of my keyboard was kinda popping out. I pushed this part of the keyboard in but it did not stay in place. It makes a sticking sound as if the keyboard was sticked down with some kind of adhesive substance. I find the performance to be really good but the build quality is not. It feels like this laptop was made of cheap plastic. It has been over two weeks since the day I purchased this computer, so I have no chance of returning it to Bestbuy. I might send this laptop back to HP to fix the keyboard issue but school is starting soon and I don't want to be computerless. Did I make the wrong purchase? Would the one advertised on the HP website be a better laptop? Also shouldn't Bestbuy be selling the same one as the one advertised on HP's site? Any sort of discussion or answers would be greatly appreciated.

You don't see a red logo with a b carved into it in your system tray? Try installing the IDT HD Audio Driver at the link below.
You should have two USB 3.0 ports on the left, but they won't function without the USB3.0 drivers at Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English) -
Yeah there is no Beats logo on my laptop, instead it says Dolby Home Theater Altec Lansing. Both of the installers successfully installed (both the USB3 and the IDT HD Audio). However when I run the USB3 Host Controller Utility it says "USB3 Host Controller Not Found".

I have a dv6t quad edition with i7. The preview on that site for the laptop makes it seem like the laptop is a little different in the finish... it looks plastic with carbon fiber design. Is this what you see? On mine it looks more like brushed aluminum.
-
Unfortunately it is plastic with a design and not the brushed aluminium. My laptop build looks really cheap compared to your one and the ones on the HP website
-
Hehe, the brushed aluminum does look nice (looks darker in reality to me) but I hate the fingerprint marks that gets all over it. Oh well.
Anyway, I don't see beats listed on BestBuy. Did you just assume after visiting HP that beats was included in your laptop? You do have a case with your USB3.0 ports missing... it does list 'YES' under that feature... not sure if Best Buy would budge though, but at least try because they technically sold you the wrong product. Make sure to mention to BB that it was one of the main feature you intended on using.
Here's someone returning a product outside of the return period, albeit a few years ago and with a desktop... BBY - Return of Faulty Desktop 10 days outside of 14-day... - Best Buy: Unboxed
Maybe you'll have some luck at your BestBuy store -
Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. Yeah I kinda assumed that my laptop would have Beats and the Fingerprints reader as almost every single DV6 Quad Edition owner I have come across in the Internet has those features. I may try to return this laptop to Bestbuy and hopefully it will work out. Thank you for the advice and all of your help.

Yes, you are right about the beats audio, that it should come with it as it is also mentioned in the specs. So 3 things, Beats Audio, USB 3.0, & Fingerprint reader. As the fingerprint reader has mostly been default to mostly all dv6 and dv7 computers. I've kind of been seeing that best buy does not put out the correct specs on their products.
I hope you are able to get this resolved. -
I think its very confusing because HP uses "DV6" to describe many different models of laptops, from recent ones launched this year to some launched back in 2008.
For instance, compare the two below, both of which are called "DV6".
Newegg.com - HP Pavilion dv6-3230us NoteBook Intel Core i3 370M(2.40GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics

For the OP, does yours look like the former, or the latter? I am sure the latter one is the one with Beats audio and the former likely does not have it. -
Not sure why you think it should come with anything but what is advertised in the 6128. That's the model you bought. It doesn't make any difference what is offered in other models.
-
It even provides a link to Bestbuy's Quad Models saying you can find this product here. So basically I paid for something that was suppose to be the one advertised but instead I got a laptop with less features than the one advertised for the same price. Again this is my fault I should have known better.
Question: Is the DV6-6128CA a fairly new model or an old one? Just wondering. -
DV6-6128CA Should be fairly new.
DV6-6 means its the newest released in May. DV6-61 Means its the second update to the one in may. So your machine is the latest generation, unfortunately Best Buy, Costco, and Walmart sometimes order specific machines. Thats why Walmart machines end in WM, had this been bought at Walmart it would have been DV6-6128WM
