    I use my dv5000t alot.

However I just put in a CD and the CD-Drive is making alot of noise while playing the music. Is this the CPU fan kicking in?

When I put my ear upclose on the keyboard near the cd-drive, it sounds like there's a gust of wind inside. I'm not even playing the CD right now and it's still making tons of noise.

I played the same cd on my sister's laptop and it was very very quiet.

I think it's the cd drive that making the sound and not the fan. I have a V3000 and whenever the cd-rom is reading the cd it makes ton of sound.

My old HP zv6130 sounded like a 737 spinning up whenever I had a DVD inside. I think it's just the acoustics and the way the vent holes are aligned that make it so much louder than other designs. Some drives are just louder than others, too.
