I keep getting an error that my webcam is being used by another application and that I cannot start it.. When I'm not using it at all.

The webcam is integrated to my computer, and there isn't a way I know of to use it. I'm trying to get it to work on Windows Live Messenger (8.1).

Suggestions and advice? Please help, there will be thanks for correct information!

Did you try using HP QuickPlay? Does it wotk? If it doesn't work with QuickPlay try reinstalling it using the recovery manager. I had a problem where I couldn't use my webcam at all, when I reinstalled the QuickPlay software everthing worked just fine.

I had the same problem, I went to the HP driver and software download site and there was an update to quickplay, installed it and the cam worked again.

Go to Start Menu (Windows logo at the taskbar) => Click All Programs => Scroll down to Button of the All Program List and find "Recovery Manage". Click on the "Recovery Manager" icon (an user account control will appear click "continue").

Now you are in the Welcome to the recovery Manager screen. Click on "Advance Options" button. Now, choose "Software Program re-installation" and click "Next". In the next welcome screen click "Next" and in the new screen choose "HP QuickPlay / DVD Play" and click "Next". Now you are at the Reinstaller Window, click "Next" and the reinstallation will start. When it's done it will ask you to reboot. After reboot try using the WebCam by opening QuicPlay.

    Good luck!!!
