I am thinking about getting the tx2500z through hp.com with the current 30% coupon, however, I would like to have XP as my operating system (I already have a disc) and was wondering if I would be able to install it and get all the drivers for it? Have done a little searching but didn't come up with information about the newest version (with ati 3200)
    Thanks so much

In theory, you can install XP no problem and find all drivers with a little bit of work. However, you will loose the tablet PC screen functionality and that cannot be gained back short of buying another XP license for OEM XP Tablet PC Edition.

Sadly it is true. Personally Id love to get XP pro working on this, but alas its the price I pay to have such a powerful tablet.

Thanks Greg, I don't really need the tablet function, I'm guessing I couldn't use nLite and find something to make the tablet function work? Either way thank you for answering my initial question

Yeah, I just tried it on my tx2500 last weekend. You will need to slipstream SATA drivers to install XP but and it ran fairly well, no problems other than the touchscreen not working and the wacom pen only partially works(writing to one note doesnt work but you can still drag the pen across the screen & do other things but not write). Other than that the quick launch buttons around the screen didnt work 100% either.

Of course, if you get the tablet pc edition then you can enable all of the table features as well.

Im not familiar with XP tablet, but does it have the same networking features as pro? I feel kinda dumb asking but Ive never supported that OS as well as this is my first tablet.

I think so, but I don't know as it isn't a version you see often. It is OEM only, so good luck finding it. Maybe NewEgg?

    I used this one...
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-64232-1

If you run the setup, it will extract the drivers by default in C:\SWSetup\sp40046. Cancel the installation after that & you can use the folder to slipstream the SATA drivers into the XP disc.
