I was wondering what would happen if i tried to put an i7 720m or 820m in a hm57 chipset computer without dedicated graphics. I assume it would not work but wanted to see if for some reason it would be fine.

AFAIK, HM57 supports both 720QM and 820QM. What system/specs do you have?

hp probook 4520s - had a i3 380m upgraded to the i7 620m engineering sample, 8gb ram. notebook motherboard has intel hd graphics but no dedicated graphics, intel specs show the i7 620m and 640m and the ES versions have integrated graphics controllers but the 720 and up do not. Was wondering if anyone has tried either the 720, 820 or 920m with a system with integrated graphics.

No dedicated graphics means you can't use the quads. Missed that part in your first post. So, i7-640M is your best bet.
