I just got a R3000Z last week and it seems to run fairly cool. The bottom doesnt get very hot and the fans seem to be running great. However, I notice that COMPAQ logo below the screen is very hot. I realize that it is direcly above where the fan is and that the hot air can get between the screen and the base of the notebook, but is it normal to get this hot?

    Hey Organ,

You're talking about the LCD & not the base that gets hot correct? If it is, that's because that is were the LCD power inverter is located. Most notebooks will get very warm to hot in that area over use/extended use. Most notebooks have the inverter located at the bottom of the screen, some older models have them on the side, but they all get hot so you don't have anything to worry about.

Yeah, sorry I wasn't clear enough. I was talking about right below the screen. Not on the base.

Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't aware it was normal.
