    Hi.
With respect to making good recovery discs for backing up the recovery partition contained within HP laptops, which DVD+R media brands have you, HP users, utilised or found to be quite reliable?

As only 2 or so discs are needed to create the recovery disc backup, cost isn't an issue for me; reliablity, however, is, as I know that once I make a recovery disc set, I cannot create another set again! Ever!

Eeek. Hence, as I know nothing about brands or what type of DVD media is more reliable than others, but am willing to pay a wee bit more for a more "reliable" brand, I am asking away here. :D.

Thus, any advice would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks,

    ESO.

i've always liked tdk because they've been selling media for a long time now. however, in my experience, any branded discs tend to work as well as each other.

after you finish making the recovery discs, i believe it is possible to store an image of the dvds on your hard drive so that way if your discs fail, you can burn some new ones

    that's a good idea...

btw, dont forget to backup your /SWSetup folder. most of your drivers are located in this directory and the updated ones are on HP website.

Taiyo Yuden or Mitsubishi branded DVDs are supposed to be reliable but they're usually only found in online stores. From personal experience, don't get Memorex DVD+Rs because large files tend to create coasters.

Ooooh, will copies of recovery discs still function as they are supposed to? In other words, even if the copy is made using DVD burning software (presumably, you can make an .iso like thingy image of your recovery DVD to save to your hard disk, and then possibly burn that up to another DVD!) and NOT with the initial HP restore disk creation device, will the recovery disc work?

Many thanks for the suggestion. :D

Or burn recovery discs twice over with HP recovery manager? Then it'd def work, the media holding up of course

Taiyo Yudens are widely considered to be the best blanks. You might want to consider some scratch resistant discs. I think TDK makes some. That is usually the other issue with backups.
