Hi i am new to this forum but have been reading a coupleof the threads here and found a lot of you know what your doing
My question is based on my notebooks specs would i be able to run the game Crysis on my laptop![]()
i am a casual gamer and if this type of question has already been posted by someone else sorry

I ran the demo at almost all Medium settings, some low. The game looks pretty nice even at those settings. I recommend going all the way down to 800x600 res for best fps though.
-
Here's a video of someone running it at almost the same settings, just so you can get an idea of what it will look like. Note: I still have Vista installed and it still ran good.

thanks
i am going about to start watching the video right now
also not trying to be nosy but how much did you pay for yours
i paid $1498 including taxes with the use of their 30% off coupon
just asking because i ordered it Dec.7 and waiting for it to come in -
doesn't look to bad from a casual gamer's point of view
-
what are your notebook specs?
-
i thought it showed at the bottom?
The specs are:
2.2 ghz dual core with 4mb of cache and 800mhz FSB
2 GB of ram
256 MB 8600m GS
HD dvd rom drive
320GB hard drive
a wsxga+ display (1680x1050)
and other extras -
Not a problem. I paid around $1500 and some change with a printer included. Very Nice rig so far no problems whatsoever. -
just got an email from HP
my notebook shipped last night and it is expected to come in Dec. 19 at 10:30 -
i have read some post about drivers and was wondering if i should upgrade the 8600m gs driver when i get it
thanks -
Congrats on your new notebook. As for the drivers I got mine about 2 weeks ago, with the 163.75 drivers. I definatley recommend you update them.
-
Always update drivers.
ALWAYS. -
thanks
also any games you guys recommend my girlfriends getting me crysis and
age of empires III gold edition and im getting fear and the expansion extraction point
any other good games i should look at? -
hey guys just got my laptop i know you guys have already shown how to do this but can anyone show me how to get the drivers for the 8600m gs
-
If you haven't played these games yet go out and get them, they are amazing! -
counter-strike source!!! best game ever(well at least the only one I can play without losing interest quickly). I'm not into games to much. I just went ahead an bought the orange box. Anyway I have the same setup I've had the best results with the 169.04 driver from laptopvideo2go web site. There are clear instructions on how to install them. You really do need to upgrade your video drivers...big difference. You may also want to try installing rivatuner and increasing the hp's stock core/mem speeds. 600/1200/450 works well for me. You will get around a 500 point increase in the popular benchmark program 3DMark06 from stock drivers and settings. I would also like to recommend www.tweakguides.com he has a great vista setup/tweak guide and nvidia control panel setup guide.

I had problems at first being the noob I am but, ive managed lol. Go to laptopvideo2go.com and find the latest drivers, download that along with the modded inf.file which is right next to the driver download once thats done, you'll have two folders on your desktop the driver folder and the inf. folder, extract the driver folder, then copy and past the inf. file into the driver folder. (Note: You have to uninstall your old drivers from the control panel)
reboot the computer and proceed with the new install. Reboot again and there you go. -
thanks
probably do it today been work all day the last 2 days
call of duty 4 looks good but heard the game was really short -
oy yea on my computer i have to put all the settings at low with crysis
will installing the drivers let me go to medium or at least put some of the settings to medium?
thanks to everyone that is replying
never heard of riva tuner? is it free and easy to use? -
-
not bad. i have the 8400m gs though
-
Just update your drivers asap. The stock ones provided with HP are terrible, they do not show the true potential of the 8600gs. -
at laptoptogo.com do you have the very newest driver or the newwest one with the mod file?
just asking cause i got the one with the mod file cause i wasnt sure about the other drivers?
with crysis i got everything on low and the game looks pretty good for low settings
and thanks for the help everyone -
hey zero88 will my computer see a big jump if i install 4GB of ram
i was looking at this one from newegg
happy holidays to everyone and thanks -
Yes. You will see a jump I would think. I have 2GB and as I've heard the rule of thumb for even casual gaming is to get at least 2GB of ram.
-
I have no problem running Crysis on my 9225 with the medium settings as high is just a tad too taxing on my measly 2 ghz cpu & 256 mb Nvidia card.
-
thanks
thinking about getting hellgate london has anyone played it?
hope it doesnt need the same kind of requirements crysis does
