Hello, I'm an owner of an HP Pavilion ZV5000...
My question is on the subject of the battery.
The past three days my laptop's battery has failed to charge to 100%.
First day: I hook it up to the ac adapter, it charges to maybe about 27% and then the power status will say ac power.
Second day: I went online for tech support from hp.com. The tech told me to try to calibrate the battery. I followed the steps, and lo and behold, it charges all the way to 99%. I thought that was good enough for me since it was just a 1% difference from 100%.
Later that day: I took the laptop off from the ac adapter to work in the living room, then went back upstairs to charge it again. The charging bolt stayed solid until about 70% charged, which was when the charge flickered on and off. It charged but it would go back and forth between the status of charging and being on ac power. I go back online for tech support, tell them my problem, and didn't receive any help. I decided to calibrate the battery again and it worked with the exception of the charge bolt not holding.
I don't know what to do anymore. Calibrating the battery does work for now but it would be nice to not have to do this every single time. My warranty from Best Buy has run out and this is not the first time I've had a power related problem. I'm considering the following choices: buying a new battery, ac adapter, or just buying a new laptop (ASUS M70).
Any suggestions/or help? And am I the only one owning a ZV5000 that has had power related issues?
Thank you very much!

If you're still on the original battery, it's dying. It's impressive that it's lasted this long. Time for a new one.

Yup, it sounds like a dying battery. You won't need to purchase another ac adapter... just a new battery is fine.

Ah, thank you both for the replies! Now to find the battery at a cheap price...
