Currently I have 2 - 256MB SODIMMs, I would like to get at least 1GB. My question is what ram to I get. I was looking at some Corsair ValueSelect PC2700, and PC3200. And I was also looking at Corsair XMS PC2700, and PC3200. Do I need to get PC2700 or can I get PC3200? Is there any performance difference in the PC3200 over the PC2700?

Without removing the internal SODIMM, which HP has made overly difficult to do, a second PC3200 stick will run at PC2700 (lowest common denominator rules). I don't advise bothering with PC3200 until HP starts shipping the new E-series CPU cores (Venice and San Diego) with their more tolerant memory controller, but if you do, Crucial is your best bet. Micron is tops for AMD compatibility.

I'm distrustful of Corsair. Their memory didn't work in my zv5000z and their quality control in general needs help. The best deal going for 1GB notebook SODIMMs is this one:

    Kingston 1GB sticks.

Thanks for the info. I believe I can live with 1.25GB of RAM.

The Kingston 1GB stick is exactly the ram I have and it works just fine.
