As with all recent HP notebooks, mine came in with the preinstalled stuff and what-not. I wasn't satisfied with it so I fiddled with it a bit and eventually ended up with the current configuration.

I thought dual-boot would be a nice configuration since I often had to switch between OS on my older laptop (I was kind of adventurous then as I was experimenting with Open Source systems and learning how different they are to Windows...). However, my priorities have changed and suddenly I need all the HD Space I can use for current and future projects. And so:

    1) I am wondering if it is possible to nuke my old Win XP Pro partition without causing irreparable damage to Vista?

I also understand that if ever I need to recover the XP Pro OS installation I would have to recover the image of the partition of C from HP Backup and Recovery (I wont remove that partition because, out of stupidity, I lost the opportunity to burn a complete set of Recovery Discs). But,

2)Is there a way to reset the contents of the partition (something like erasing the current contents) and replace it with a much more recent backup? [PS: I know it's best to use the "earliest" backup of the OS since it's more stable, but I'm curious... ]
