    From HP's consumer website:

    "Return period
We encourage you to try out your products right away so that if there is a problem, you can return them before the returns deadline. We accept returns and exchanges for up to 21 days after delivery, except on opened boxed software, Designjet Z2100 series Printers, HP Color LaserJet CP6015dn Printer, and gift cards (except where required by law). After the 21-day period, you can get support for any product issues from HP Customer Care."

Do they mean that a customer has 21 days to initiate a return (of a laptop), or do they mean that they have to have received the return by the 21st day?

Also, although the quote says "21 days after delivery", I've read conflicting opinions saying that it's 21 days after shipment. I got the laptop today, and if they accept it after shipment, I've already lost 6 days of the 21. Also, there's a hole in the side of the box from shipping (I haven't unboxed it yet): I hope this wouldn't cause a return problem.

Obviously, I'll call HP, but if one rep says one thing, the next rep can always say, "I'm sorry you were given wrong information".

    Any help would be appreciated.

21 days starts when you get the laptop. You would have to notify them within 21 days if you'd like to return/exchange. I know cuz I changed my hdx16.

and it also doesn't matter what we say here. You'd best ask HP and get your return started.

    THIS REALLY SUCKS.

They now have a 400 dollar off coupon, and I just ordered my laptop a few days before the coupon, thinking a new coupon wouldnt be around for atleast 20 days or so.

Should I exchange my laptop when it gets here and use the coupon?

Well, I cannot sign onto the page, cannot create a new account, and when I called them, they told me the systems were down, and they couldnt assist me.

So I proceeded to ask that when the systems are "up" , can I cancel an order being processed, and my answer was "there is no guarantee"

wow, I hope that lady doesnt make more than 9 dollars an hour

No they won't. Just return it and wait for the next 30% off coupon. Don't ask about it cuz I've answered 50 people about it. Do a forum search.

True. Depends on how much you spend. Its only worth it if you spend more than
$1200. I saved almost $1000 on my HDX16 but it was maxed out at $3400-1000=$2400. However, before that amount, $400 is a better deal.

Question: I just got my RMA number - and I'm ready to ship the laptop back. Is it okay that I installed some things on it, basic applications?

Will they still take it back? She told me on the phone its okay I opened it, but thats all I mentioned.

I figure when they get them back they format the drive anyway?
