Just some quick questions...
What wireless card installed and under what option if brought directly from HP?
If yours had switchable graphics option , what is your usable ram and installed ram.
Example for mine
Intel Wifi Link 1000 bgn (Intel Wireless N)
3.8GB (4 GB installed)
I'm just curious cause there might be some differences in the dv6t se line.
Been getting way different answers from both HP Customer Support, HP Resolution, and HP Technical Support.
Based on your answers, I might send it back.

Same wifi card as you, 5.8GB usable out of 6 installed.

Interesting...
According to the hp shopping site, the dv6t se 3000 are issued with an intel based wireless card that supports 802.11a,b,g,n. However, the card that came with the laptop has no 802.11a and very limited 802.11n support.
It gotten to the point that HP wants me to return my laptop as a defective product after being with Customer Support for a few hours. -
Is it the internal intel graphics card that is taking those 200 mb of ram?
I will check if I have the same thing when I get home. -
I'm pretty sure the Intel HD takes ~256MB of ram, since under the resource monitor, it is marked under hardware reserve.
-
Which wireless card were you expecting? All I see on the site is that it's an Intel wireless-n card. Does it make a big difference? I have a 802.11n router and it works fine.
-
I was expected at least a wifi 4965 or 6200.
The N specification under wifi link 1000 only allow it to operate only at the 2.4 Ghz spectrum.
802.11n can operate at either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz spectrum.
802.11a only operate at 5Ghz spectrum.
It's my strict preference to use the any access point that operate at 5Ghz spectrum due to heavy saturation of 2.4Ghz devices where I live and work. -
I received my replacement card, and guess what ... its another Wifi Link 1000
I should of read the manual before even wasting my time with HP Support.
Plus ... Don't trust the The "Help me Decide" on an ambiguous options such as Intel Wireless-N.
Pretty much the dv6t wireless is pretty much stuck running at most Draft 2.0 N specification but never the full 802.11n Final specification unless replaced.
Which is the reason why I wanted the 802.11a support because it's possible to force a draft n hardware to utilize full N final specification.
Oh wellSuck up and buy a new card.
The cards mentioned on the HP Manual April 2010 for the dv6:
Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n 1x1
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 802.11b/g/n 1x2 (May come with for those who brought bluetooth. April 2010anyone have something later?)
Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1
Broadcom 43224 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 -
Do you have a part number for the its another Wifi Link 1000? I could really do with it? I would really appreciate your help!
Thanks. -
I ordered my dv6t on Aug. 1 w/bluetooth and it is the: Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN. Just so you know they have not updated the card, cause I would also like to use the 5Ghz but this will do.
-
Thanks for the update.
I might be testing justin's intel 6200, once we figure out a time to meet on campus.
The spare part number are in the user guide, also gives a small list of cards that would work as well.
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 802.11b/g/n 1x2 Spare Part #: 593530–001 -
Nope, the 6200 didn't work...
-
In the dv6t se user manual, was a replacement part for the intel pro wireless advanced-n 6250 with WiMax. This card has support for 5Ghz N frequencies. I wonder if this card would work on the dv6t 3000
-
You need a newer bios later than F09... The 6250 was added in recently (July), the 6300 might work but I'm not in the mood to bother to figure that out.
-
hi can you please let me know the product code of the high capacity battery? im planning to buy the extended battery but i need the code to confirm if the battery im looking for is really the high capacity battery (62whr). thanks
-
The spare part # 593652001
6-cell, 62-Wh, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery -
Well intel 6300 didnt work either
so just intel 6250. -
Thank you Falcon for trying this, you really helped the community. Just wanted to say that. I was on amazon ready to buy the 6300, then I said to myself, "let me check the forums one more time." Good thing I did.
I will pick up the 6250. Thank you again! -
So has anyone confirmed if the Intel Advanced WiMAX 6250 worked with the DV6T se?
