I have the lightscribe feature on my notebook with the Roxio Express Label program.

I've never used it and have some questions.

    1. Do I have to have a special blank CD or will any work?
    2. Are there any good links to using lightscribe and the Roxio program?

    Thanks!

    1. Yes, you will need LightScribe compatible media. The inner clear ring of the CD/DVD would have "LightScribe" etched on it for easy identification.

    2. You can visit "www.lightscribe.com" for an overview of the technology behind it. This site also helps you get started with actual LightScribing!

I bought a 10 pack of Lightscribe disks (Memorex) at Target for $7.99. I tried it out for the first time yesterday and its pretty cool. I burned my music onto the disc using Windows Media Player, and labeled it using Roxio Express Labeler. It's pretty straight forward. The image on the disk turns out pretty good. The only negative is that the finish product is in dark gold (the color of the disk). So if you're expecting anything in multi-colors, don't get your hopes up. lol!

Actually it looks pretty good. A friend of mine mailed me a video CD that he made, gold with sepiatone. It made me want to start burning some. I've had my notebook 3 months now and didn't even know I had the lightscribe cdrm and program... DUHH.

I have a Target card, so off to Target I go tonight... :D

Okay, now that I have lightscribe on my notebooks cdrom, the program to use it and the proper CD's... what programs do they have that I can burn photos on and use a slide show? Does Visa media editon have one?

    1. Is lightscribe as slow as people say to do photo on CD?

    2. Has anyone heard of extra drive ware of any kind when using much lightscribing?

    waverider,

Lightscribe is a slow process, but it depends on what setting you use in the software when "etching" the image (for want of a better word) you can change the quality, lower quality = lesser etch time.

As for wear, it uses a different laser for it as far as i know. so not sure.

I got bored of lightscribe after about the 4th disc lol. and went back to full face printables and a canon ip4300 printer.

Can anyone who has experience using this lightscribe thingy confirm this.
I heard that it's slow. And last time i check, it's only able to do monochrome printing. I wish the color version comes out soon.

Yes, it's slow. It took about 25 minutes to burn one.

btw, does everything have to be fast?! ;)

    Simple,
Start lightscribe, go clean your room or perhaps start an online romance. Maybe even clean and skin a buck you got today.
Check disk , should be done by now.
