It has the GM965 chipset. The Intel and HP websites both simply state it provides a SATA HDD controller. I can't find anywhere that specifies whether it's SATA 1.5 or SATA 3.0. Anyone know for sure?

Anyone own one of these? If so, what's your opinion of it?

I have the 6510b which is the same as the 6710b except it has a 14" lcd. From the Intel document http://download.intel.com/design/chipsets/datashts/31305603.pdf the 82801 HEM/HBM (ICH8M) supports:

"The ICH8 supports the Serial ATA Specification, Revision 2.5. The ICH8 also supports several optional sections of the Serial ATA II: Extensions to Serial ATA 1.0 Specification, Revision 1.0 (AHCI support is required for some elements). The ICH8 has integrated SATA host controllers that supports independent DMA operation on up to six ports (desktop only) or three ports (mobile only) and supports data transfer rates of up to 3.0 Gb/s (300 MB/s).

My opinion of the 6510b is that i really like it. It's quiet, good battery runtime, has many security functions to prevent theft and unauthorized use. Runs my games (silent hunter iii, warcraft iii, neverwinter nights, hearts of iron ii, civ iii, tetris and more). I was on trip this weekend and got about 4+ hours battery time when reading pdf's and docs and way over 2 hours gaming silent hunter iii. So i can only recommend it.
